  • Most often here in India, it is found that people are less aware of dental problems and hence they does not turn up to our clinic or hospital in time. Very often we find that the tooth is severely damaged and hence we have no option left but to extract it.
  • In this blog I will be discussing some of the cases and signs ,which will help you to take care of your teeth better.Always remember that if you turn up to us in time ,we will save you teeth.
  • The most commonly improper brushing leads to dental problems.Children often hates brushing which leads to dental caries and loss of their teeth in very early.More of it is explained in my blog -Linkhttp://childoralhealth.blogspot.com/
  • The commonly improper brushing and flossing leads to plaque and calculus.Debris, plaque and calculus becomes an appropriate media for bacterial growth. These bacteria are mainly responsible for different dental problems - caries (tooth decay),loosening of tooth, severe bone loss, halitosis, etc.
  • Once this occurs we cannot prevent it but we need to repair the damages made by the bacteria and give patient an option of cleaning and restoration to prevent further decay of those affected teeth.
  • Improper cleaning of the teeth, results to the increase in the micro-organisms in the supra and sub-gingival level.
  • Externally it appears as a small black dot or line over the surface of the tooth. The easiest way to identify caries is the retention of food particles after every meal. This can also be checked by passing a sharp point of a tooth pick over the surface of the affected side.If it is a caries in the initial stage, the tooth pick will have a catch. But during this one must never put pressure ,as it can damage the oral cavity and the tooth. The procedure must be carried out very gently.
  • Often it is seen that Improper brushing leads to deep caries ,which leads to decay of the tooth to such an extent that the tooth finally gets fractured. This kind of cases are very common in India due to the lack of awareness of the patients.Though the patients often desires for an extraction due to the costly treatment procedures, but this same tooth can be saved if the patient desires.
  • In this case the fracture of the tooth left untreated resulted in pulp polyp. Pulp polyp in common mans understanding is the over growth of the nerves and blood vessels of the affected tooth protruding outwards from the pulp chamber. This causes severe pain during mastication and closing of the jaws.
  • Improper maintenance of the oral hygiene causes increased in the plaque and calculus retention, gradually this initiates the downwards movement of the gingiva, loss of the the attached gingiva with periodontal diseases. This state if untreated will finally result in loosening of the teeth and exfoliation.
  • This case was due to excessive bleeding,When the patient arrived the patient had a huge lump like mass,in the 2nd quadrant , posteriorly. This case was simple but is an example of patient negligence after extraction.

  • seems to have a history of tobacco chewing and poor oral hygiene.

  • Most commonly seen in patients with improper occlusion.Patients feels pain in the region of the ear, pain in and around the the tooth, inflammation, ulcers ,bleeding ,etc are very common in patients. These are the signs which will require you to refer to a dentist.
  • If untreated these can result to Cellulitis and other complications which can turn fatal in its later stages. For more- please read my blog - http://spreadofinfection.blogspot.com/
  • Treatment is possible to most of the cases -your dentist can provide restoration, rehabilitation, maintenance of your oral hygiene which will ensure your dental health.
